Robert Heath, Class of 2022

Robert Heath participated in Odyssey of the Mind for the first time when he was a 3rd grader at Inglewood Elementary School.  Since then, Robert has taken on the challenges of all five long term problem types including performance, classics, technical, vehicle and balsa.  He found his niche in solving the balsa wood problem and has competed in balsa for the last four years:   

  9th grade 'Structure Toss' 1st place SEPA 
10th grade 'Limbo' 1st place SEPA, participated in Virtual World Finals
11th grade 'It's a Trap!'
      2nd place SEPA, 1st place PA virtual States, 20th place virtual World Finals, 6th place in person World Finals
12th grade 'Matryoshka Structure'  Regional Competition February 26th  

Among his many accomplishments while participating in Odyssey of the Mind, Robert has designed and built complex balsa structures, made sound systems, built a working boom box, built a balsa robot, and made a spider brush bot all from trash items.  Over the years, he has portrayed a gamer targeted by fireballs, Justin Beaver, Leonardo DaVinci, Bonka Billy (for a parody on Willy Wonka), a Chimera and a Diva Henchman.

Robert has recently achieved Eagle Rank in Boy Scouts.  He is active in Troop 610, having served as Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader.  He also assists Cub Scout Pack 9.  Robert is in the Mechatronics program at NMTCC.  He plays clarinet in the NPHS concert band.  He is vice president, secretary and treasurer of the Simulation Gaming Society (SGS).  Robert was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society this year. Robert plans to attend college and is considering a major in Mechatronics or Engineering.
