William Wermuth, an exceptional senior at North Penn High School (NPHS), has been recognized as one of the country' s most outstanding high school leaders by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation and has been awarded a $20,000 college scholarship.

William is among 150 high school seniors who were selected from an initial pool of 95,715 applications from across the country based on their academic excellence, leadership, and service demonstrated in school and community activities as part of a 3-stage selection process. As a Coca-Cola Scholar, William Wermuth will receive a $20,000 college scholarship to the school of his choice and travel to Atlanta, GA for Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend in early April.

As a member of the 31st class of Coca-Cola Scholars, William not only exemplifies superior leadership, service and academics - he is a change agent, positively affecting others in his community. Earlier this year, William was named one of 1,896 Semifinalists from 95,715 initial applicants from across the country to receive this scholarship. After another round of judgement, this number was narrowed down to just 251 regional finalists who were tasked with completing interviews to determine the final scholarship winners. The North Penn School District (NPSD) is proud to announce that William Wermuth is one of 150 finalists designated as Coca-Cola Scholars and will each receive a $20,000 scholarship to be used at his college of choice. Collectively, the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation will award $3.1 million in college scholarships to these outstanding young leaders.

A joint effort of Coca-Cola bottlers across the United States and The Coca‑Cola Company, the Coca‑Cola Scholars Program is one of the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship programs of its kind. With the addition of the 2019 class, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 6,150 Coke Scholars nationwide with over $69 million in scholarships over the course of 31 years.

In addition to receiving college scholarships, students selected as Coca-Cola Scholars will have the opportunity to travel to Atlanta, Georgia from April 4 through 7 for Scholars Weekend. Here, they will serve as the guests of honor at a celebratory banquet, participate in a leadership development curriculum and be welcomed into a vibrant and growing family of alumni that have become a powerful force for positive change in the world. Through networking, collaborations and friendships, the group strives to make a greater impact together.

The North Penn School District congratulates William Wermuth on this incredible accomplishment.
