Mandated Screenings
Pennsylvania State Law mandates specific screenings for students in certain grades each school year. Please contact the School Nurse if you have any questions about screenings.
Listed below are some of the mandated health screenings. Please contact your school nurse to obtain results of these screenings.
Growth Screening: Height and Weight Annually for each student in all grades.
Body Mass Index (BMI) Screening: Annually for each student in all grades.
Vision Screening: Annually for each student in all grades.
Hearing Screenings: Screening occurs in grades K, 1, 2, 3, 7 and 11
Scoliosis Screening: Grades six and seven.
Physical and Dental Examinations
Physical examination are required by the Pennsylvania Health Department upon entrance to school (kindergarten or first grade) and in grades six and eleven. Physical Examination Form
It is preferable that your family physicians/pediatricians perform this examination for continuity of care. However, parents/guardians may request that the School District physician provide the mandated physical exam. This is an abbreviated exam provided free of cost which requires parental permission. A dental examination is required for each student in first, third and seventh grades. Parents are urged to have dental exams performed by family dentists as they are able to complete more thorough examinations. Dental Examination Form.
It is preferable that your family dentist perform this examinations for continuity of care. However, parents/guardians may request that the School Dentist provide the mandated dental exam. This is an abbreviated exam provided free of cost which requires parental permission. Please contact your School Nurse for more information
